UTM Builder

Paste your page’s address, tick your networks, name the campaign: you get one link per network, ready to paste in your bio or post, and Google Analytics will know where each visit came from.

Free, no sign-up. It runs in your browser: nothing is sent.

The page you want to send visitors to. Its current parameters are kept.

Where will you post the link?

Tick several to get one link per network.

What you are promoting: a launch, an offer, a month.

Where the link will go. It tells two links of the same campaign apart (utm_content).

Advanced settings

Mostly for search engine ads.

Useful if you import campaign data into Google Analytics.

Paste your page’s address and name the campaign to get the link.

How it works

  1. 1

    Paste your page’s address

Your offer, signup or shop page, with or without parameters.

  2. 2

    Tick your networks

Source and medium follow Google Analytics rules, so every visit is filed correctly.

  3. 3

    Copy one link per network

One for your Instagram bio, one for your LinkedIn post… each tells you where the visit came from.

Good UTM links

  • One campaign name, the same everywhere

“course-launch” on Instagram and “Course_Launch” on LinkedIn are two campaigns in your reports.

  • Always lowercase

Google Analytics is case sensitive: keep the cleanup on.

  • One placement per link

Bio, story, post: the placement tells you which one really brings visits.

  • Keep a list

Write down your campaigns and their names. Your last copied links also stay here, on this device.

  • Avoid “shop” in the name

Google files any campaign containing “shop” under shopping, even if the link comes from Instagram.

Frequently asked questions

What is a UTM link?

It is your page’s address followed by a few parameters (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign…) that tell Google Analytics where the visitor came from: which network, which kind of link, which campaign. The page itself shows as usual.

How do I create a UTM link?

Paste your page’s address into the tool, tick the network where you will post the link and name the campaign. The link is built right away; copy it and paste it into your bio or post.

Which UTM parameters are required?

Google recommends always setting utm_source (where the visit comes from, for example instagram), utm_medium (the medium, for example social) and utm_campaign (the campaign name). Without them, your reports show “(not set)”. utm_content, utm_term and utm_id are optional.

Which source and medium for Instagram, Facebook or TikTok?

The source is the network’s name in lowercase (instagram, facebook, tiktok), and the medium is “social”. Under Google Analytics 4 rules, the medium “social” files the visit under Organic Social. For a paid ad, the medium “paid_social” files it under Paid Social.

What about a Google Business profile?

The tool uses the source “google_business” and the medium “organic”. Google files visits with the medium “organic” under Organic Search, and the source lets you tell them apart from other searches.

Does capitalization matter?

Yes. Google Analytics treats “Instagram” and “instagram” as different values, and recommends lowercase. The tool’s cleanup lowercases everything, removes accents and replaces spaces with dashes.

My address already has parameters: are they lost?

No. Parameters that are not UTMs stay as they are, in the same order. Old UTMs in the address are replaced by the new ones, so two campaigns never mix, and the tool tells you so.

Where do I see the visits in Google Analytics 4?

In the Traffic acquisition report: pick session source / medium, or campaign, to see the visits from each link.

Can I shorten a UTM link?

Yes, with any link shortener: the parameters stay in the original link, which the short link points to.

Are my links sent anywhere?

No. Everything runs in your browser. Your last copied links are kept on this device only, and one button clears them.
