Instagram Grid Maker
Drop a large image, pick a grid and frame it: you get the pieces numbered in the order to post them, so they come together as one picture on your profile.

A photo, a poster, a launch visual: ideally large and sharp.
- 2
Pick a grid and frame it
From 3 to 18 images, in the profile’s format. Drag and zoom, the preview follows.
- 3
Post in order
Download the images as a ZIP or one by one, then post them from #1 to the last.
Tips for a great mosaic
Keep key details away from the cuts
In your followers’ feed, each image shows on its own. A face, a title or a logo split across two images reads badly: the white lines in the preview show where the cuts are.
Post all the images in one go
Any other post in between, Reels included, shifts the whole mosaic by one tile. Set aside a moment to post everything at once.
After that, post in threes
Each new post pushes the mosaic by one tile. Posting in multiples of three afterwards keeps its rows aligned.
Mind pinned posts
From what we see, they stay at the top of the profile, before everything else: the mosaic starts after them. Unpin them or plan around them.
Scheduling with a tool? Use 4:5
The Instagram app accepts 3:4, but the Instagram API used by scheduling tools only takes images between 4:5 and 1.91:1, according to Meta’s documentation.
Same filter for all
A different filter or crop on one image breaks the seams. Post them as they are.
Frequently asked questions
How do I split a photo for an Instagram grid?
Drop your image into the tool, pick a grid (3, 6, 9, 12, 15 or 18 images) and a format, frame it by dragging and zooming, then download the images. They are numbered in the order to post them.
What size should an Instagram grid image be?
Each image is 1080 pixels wide, the width Instagram keeps. In 3:4, each image is 1080 × 1440 px, so the ideal source is 3240 × 1440 px for one row, 3240 × 2880 px for two rows and 3240 × 4320 px for a 3 × 3 grid. An image with another shape can be framed in the tool.
Is the Instagram grid rectangular now?
From what we see since early 2025, yes: the profile shows vertical 3:4 tiles instead of the old squares. Instagram does not describe it in any help page. So the tool offers 3:4, which lines up exactly, along with 4:5 and square, and the preview shows what the profile keeps.
In what order do I post the images?
From #1 to the last one. Instagram puts the newest post at the top left of the profile, so #1 ends up at the bottom right and the last one at the top left. The preview shows these numbers on each tile.
Can I use a 16:9 image?
Yes. A row of three 3:4 images is close to 16:9, so the tool only trims a little from the top and bottom, and you choose what to keep. To keep everything, pick “Whole image”: the rest is filled with the color of your choice.
Should I post the images as a carousel?
No. Each image is a separate post. A carousel only shows its first image on the profile, according to Instagram’s help center, so the mosaic would not appear. To split a photo into swipeable slides, use Kreatoai’s Instagram carousel splitter instead.
Will the images lose quality?
They are created 1080 pixels wide as high-quality JPEGs: that is what Instagram keeps, and it recompresses every image anyway. A very large image is first scaled down to stay smooth on your device, with no visible difference once posted.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. Everything happens in your browser: the image never leaves your device, and nothing is kept when you close the page.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. On a phone, the “Save to my phone” button puts the images in your photos when your browser allows it; otherwise, download them one by one or as a ZIP.
Is it really free?
Yes: no sign-up, no watermark and no usage limit.
