How it works
- 1
Paste your text
A caption, a bio, a post, a title: with its emojis, accents and line breaks.
- 2
Read the counts
Characters, words, hashtags, and for each network the limit and what is left, as you type.
- 3
Adjust, then copy
Shorten where it turns red, then copy the text and paste it into the network.
Counting right before you post
Emojis do not weigh the same everywhere
An emoji counts as one on Bluesky, often as two on TikTok, and as four bytes in a YouTube description. That is why the tool counts network by network.
Under the limit does not mean read
On Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn, only the first lines show before “more”. Put what matters first, even in a short text.
One text per network
A 2,000-character LinkedIn post does not fit a 300-character Bluesky post. Write a short version instead of cutting mid-sentence.
Count hashtags separately
Instagram allows 5 per post, according to its help center. The tool counts them and flags it.
Bold letters count double
The “bold” letters from text generators are Unicode symbols stored as two units, like an emoji: styled text reaches the limit faster.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Instagram caption character limit?
Up to 2,200 characters, according to Instagram’s documentation, with 5 hashtags at most according to its help center. The bio stops at 150 characters. The tool counts on the safe side: an emoji counts as two.
What is the LinkedIn post character limit?
Up to 3,000 characters, according to LinkedIn’s help center, which suggests writing an article beyond that. For the profile headline and comments, LinkedIn publishes no number, so the tool counts them without making up a limit.
What is the TikTok character limit?
A video caption is 2,200 characters at most, counted in UTF-16 units (an emoji is often two), according to TikTok’s documentation. The bio stops at 80 characters, according to its help center.
How long can a YouTube title and description be?
The title is 100 characters at most. The description is 5,000 bytes at most according to YouTube’s documentation: a plain letter is one byte, “é” is two, an emoji four. YouTube also refuses “<” and “>” in both. Tags fit in 500 characters, quotes and commas included.
Why does the count change from one network to another?
Because each network counts its own way. Bluesky counts what the eye sees (an emoji, even a combined one, is one). TikTok counts the text’s computer units (an emoji is often two). YouTube counts the description’s bytes. When a network does not say how it counts, the tool uses the higher count, so it never tells you a text fits when it does not.
Does the counter include spaces?
Yes: the first number counts characters including spaces, like the networks do. The “Without spaces” number removes them, line breaks included.
Why do some rows have no limit?
Because the network does not publish one. The numbers going around for LinkedIn headlines, LinkedIn comments, Facebook posts or Google updates come from third-party sites, not from the networks themselves: instead of copying one, the tool counts your text and says so.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. Everything is counted in your browser; the text never leaves your device and is not stored anywhere.
