Approximate preview. Instagram does not document what it does with blank lines: from what we see, a line left empty can disappear, a line carrying an invisible character stays.
How it works
- 1
Paste your text
Written in your notes, on desktop or mobile, with its blank lines.
- 2
The tool keeps your paragraphs
It puts an invisible character on each blank line and removes useless trailing spaces.
- 3
Copy and paste into Instagram
In a caption, a bio or a comment: your lines stay apart.
Spacing out an Instagram caption
The first line does the work
Under a post, people only see the start of the caption before “more”. Put the line that makes them want to read first, with no blank line above it.
One idea per paragraph
Two or three lines, then a blank line. On a phone, a ten-line block reads like a wall.
Hashtags at the end
Separate them from the text with a blank line: the caption reads first, the hashtags stay for search. Instagram allows 5 per post.
Draft in your notes
Write the caption in a notes app, run it through here, then paste it: you keep a copy and your blank lines.
One invisible character, not ten
One blank line is enough between two paragraphs. Stacking invisible lines pushes the text far down and counts toward the limit.
Frequently asked questions
How do I add a line break on Instagram?
In a caption, your keyboard’s Return key starts a new line. The trouble is the blank lines between paragraphs: from what we see, Instagram can drop them when you post, and your paragraphs run together. Paste your text into the tool above: it puts an invisible character on each blank line, then you copy the result into Instagram.
How do I add a line break on Instagram on iPhone?
The same way on iPhone and Android: write your text with its blank lines (in the tool or in your notes), copy the text the tool prepares and paste it into the caption or bio. The invisible character works the same on both.
How do I add line breaks to my Instagram bio?
Pick “A bio” in the tool, paste your text, copy the result, then in Instagram go to Edit profile, Bio, and paste. The counter checks the 150-character bio limit; each invisible character counts as one.
Does it work in comments?
Yes: the prepared text also pastes into a comment or a reply, with its paragraphs.
Which invisible character should I use?
The tool uses the “braille pattern blank” (U+2800) by default: a real character that does not show and is not a space, so it is not removed the way spaces are. The “left-to-right mark” (U+200E) is even quieter, but it is a formatting character, the kind some fields strip out. A visible dot is still an option if you would rather hide nothing.
Where can I copy and paste an invisible space?
The tool’s “Copy a single invisible space” button copies the U+2800 character. Paste it on a blank line of your caption or bio, right in the app.
Do screen readers read the invisible character?
Some announce the braille pattern blank (“blank” or “braille blank”), others skip it. One blank line per paragraph is fine; dozens of invisible lines are not.
Does Instagram remove spaces at the end of a line?
Instagram’s help center does not say. Those spaces serve no purpose and can make a line look empty, so the tool removes them and tells you.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. Everything happens in your browser; the text never leaves your device and is not stored anywhere.
