What makes a good Instagram caption
A first line that hooks
In the feed, people only see the start before “more”. A question or a bold line makes them tap.
Say what the picture does not
The story behind the photo, the tip, the effort it took: the caption adds, it does not describe.
Fit the format
A carousel makes people swipe to the last slide; a Reel needs one line; a photo can carry a longer text.

How long can an Instagram caption be?
Up to 2,200 characters, according to Instagram’s documentation. Every caption suggested here fits that limit, and its character count is shown.
How many hashtags should a caption have?
Five at most: Instagram’s help center says you can use up to 5 hashtags on a post. The generator never adds more, and none if you untick the option.
Short or long caption?
Both work. A short caption suits a Reel or a photo that speaks for itself; a long one that teaches or tells a story suits a carousel. Try both lengths and keep the one that sounds like you.
Can I edit a caption after posting?
Yes, Instagram lets you edit the caption of a post that is already live, for example to add a hashtag you forgot.
Is the generator free?
